It might not feel like it with the mild temperatures, but this week is the ultimate Christmas kick-off in London & Woodstock.
Sometimes we need those annual events to get us into the Holiday Spirit and it seems ALL those events are happening this week!
CP Holiday Train
How can you not get the holiday feels cranked up after seeing a massive Christmas train?
The CP Holiday Train is rolling through Woodstock on Wed Nov 29th with all the dazzling lights and of course a cool concert! The train will arrive at 199 Winniett Street at 6:40pm. Then the doors open for fun Christmas concert with Jim Cuddy, Devon Cuddy and Kelly Prescott, which will happen from 6:50-7:10pm.
In London, the train will arrive at the Richmond Street railway crossing between Oxford and Central at 8:15pm with the concert event happening from 8:30-9:00pm.
The event is free, but everyone is encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or money to help out local food banks.
The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than C$13 million and four million pounds of food for communities along CP’s routes in Canada and the United States.
38th Annual Christmas Craft Festival
If you’re like me, having to bounce around to all the crowded stores and parking lots to get Christmas presents is overwhelming and stressful. That’s why I love the Christmas Craft Festival as you can get ALL your shopping done in one day!
This is an event that keeps you coming back year after year. Don’t miss it Nov 30th- Dec 3rd at the Metroland Media Agriplex at Western Fair District. There are tons of vendors, mainly local…that have unique and hand-made items that anyone on your list would love.
You can also visit the 1031 Fresh Radio booth for a photo with Santa and help us those in need by donating winter clothes!
Get $1 off admission to the 38th Annual Christmas Craft Festival at the London Western Fairgrounds this Thursday thru Sunday. I’ll be a part of this amazing event! Come out and support local this Christmas. #uniquecandles #dessertcandles #scentedcandles #supportlocal #shoplocal @londonandkwcraftshows #christmascraftfestival #londonontario
Lighting of the Lights / Winter Wonderland
We’re so lucky to have Victoria Park right in the heart of our downtown to enjoy all year. It’s great for walks, picnics…but truly gets transformed into something magical this time of the year.
You can really put into words the excitment and beauty of over 75,000 Christmas lights turning on at the same time.
The Lighting of the Lights is this Friday Dec 1st starting at 6:15pm in Victoria Park. The lights will be turned on at 6:50pm kicking off the Winter Wonderland that runs through to New Year’s Eve. There are festive displays, Santa’s House and free public skating starting Dec 8th (weather permitting).
If you’re looking for a great photo or just want to experience the brilliance of the park, you can view the lights from the Promenade Deck at City Hall. Click here for the schedule for when you can do that.
Outdoor Winter Skating Trail
You can’t match the sound of a skate cutting through the ice as the wind hits your face! There really is nothing like going for a skate outside during the winter in London.
An outdoor rink is neat, but if you’re looking for a unique and cool way to have fun on the ice, you NEED to experience the Outdoor Winter Skating Trail at Storybook Gardens.
The walk-ways become a beautiful 250 metre skating trail. It opens Sat Dec 2nd (weather permitting) and is open six days a week until the end of February. You can even rent skates if you want to try it out.
Be sure to take lots of pics and videos, especially if you have friends in the U.S…as they already think this is how we get around all winter!!!
2017 Santa Shuffle
Who says you need to put away your running shoes in December?
If you’re like me and have a hard time getting the kids up and away from the screens this time of the year, here’s a great way to stay fit and have a blast as a family!
Join the Santa Shuffle Fun Run & Elf Walk on Sat Dec 2nd at John Paul II High School on Oxford, just East of Highbury Ave. You can run a 5K or follow Santa in the 1K shuffle and don’t worry, nothing is timed…so relax and enjoy!

A Visit with St. Nicholas
With Christmas Eve approaching fast, there’s little time to spend some time and maybe share your wishes to the big guy in red!
You can enjoy A Visit with St. Nicholas at Fanshawe Pioneer Village Dec 2, 3, 9 & 10.
Bring the family to enjoy a hot pancake breakfast, you can decorate for dessert, hop aboard a wagon for a beautiful winter ride around the Village and visit a selection of buildings preparing for Christmas. To top it all off, of course you can visit with Santa himself!
