I’ve been to alot of concerts in my time as a radio personality, and I’ve seen alot of bad behaviour from the supposed ‘fans’. When I’ve spoken up, I’ve been verbally abused, so I’m not surprised by what happened on Twitter last night. Dallas Smith was performing in Dawson Creek B.C. on Tuesday when the members of the audience became unruly. He called them out.
What followed was a twitter battle about Dawson Creek and how some residents were upset by the negative publicity about their city. They didn’t want the community to be associated with those who behaved badly, citing a few’ bad apples’ shouldn’t ruin it’s reputation. In this day and age of Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Louis C.K and others, I found it refreshing to have an artist call out those who assaulted people at his show. I don’t understand why some people are more concerned about the city’s reputation, than the bad behaviour that occurred there. It’s time to stop changing the conversation, and deal with those who need to ‘grow the f___ up’.
