Yesterday on the show, I shared the story of my dog, Jaxon.
Jaxon is a 4 years old rescue dog from A.R.F. Ontario. I love him to death. He was crated for the first 6 months, then allowed to hang out on the couch while I went to work for 3 years. For the last 6 months, he’s been a bad boy, destroying the carpet the exact second I leave the house. We’ve started using the crate again to solve the problem. However, I’d love to find a better solution, so that he can go back to enjoying the couch while I’m at work.
We asked you to share your suggestions yesterday, and our listeners came through, big time.
Terry, who owns Lil’ Rebels Retreat, offered a few suggestions, like filing down Jaxon’s nails, or putting Vicks Vapour Rub on the spot he’s destroying. The Vicks washes out, but he’ll leave the spot alone after that.
Kendall texted to say “Toys, especially ones that make the dog think, like treat balls, help to tire the dog out mentally and physically. Or tire him out before you leave so he sleeps. I have 2 dogs of my own. Also, remember to switch out toys as he gets bored, so he always has something new to do.”.
John called to suggest feeding Jaxon banana’s. John indicated Jaxon’s potassium levels may be low, so a banana for a few weeks could help.
We heard so many helpful suggestions & hints. Feel free to add your own to the original post below, or to read the suggestions to see if they could help your own puppy situation.
