There’s an interesting article circulation on Facebook right now, from the CBC. Basically, it implies that concerts, especially those in bars on weeknights, would be better attended if they started, and ended, earlier. Would local music scenes benefit from an earlier start time for shows?
Yesterday, we asked you what you thought.
Garrett Vanhooren wrote on Facebook “Time isn’t the deal breaker for me. Cost is. So many shows I’d go to if I only had the funds”.
Tiffany Nugent added “For people who work on weekends definetly”.
Cathy Ryan noted “Absolutely! I’d go for that”.
@lorikaitken added on Instagram “Not only would I attend more shows, I’d play more shows, too”.
Leslie Groot sent this message “It would be hard for people from out of town to attend a concert any earlier then 7pm when most work till 5. The concerts we have most recently attended ended at 11-1130 so not getting home until well after midnight through the week. Won’t stop us from going. We were at Dierks in January and will be seeing Dean Brody in 2 weeks. The only way to have them end earlier is to not play as much…which we Don’t want to happen. It’s only a couple times a year so it’s fine not to get enough sleep…haha! Well worth it”.
Brian Jacklin texted to say “Early. Yes, many of us work, and have families. 6-10 would awesome, because you could head out after for a few and talk about the concert instead of fighting traffic”.
Sheila Cole texted “I get up at 4am . I would like it to be early. I am going to see the chicks on Monday. I took Tuesday off of work because I know it going to be a late night”.
What do you think? Would you attend more concerts, especially local music scene shows, if they started earlier? Let us know in the comments, or add to our original Facebook / Instagram posts below.
